From meet director:
Due to extensive track damage from previous events, we will be doing a spike check for all athletes entering the track. The only style of spike that is acceptable is a pyramid spike and may not be longer than 1/4”. If an athlete is caught using a spike longer than 1/4” that athlete will be disqualified from the event. This does not include shot put or discus
Field Events:
All field event competitors will need to check out with event judges prior to reporting for a running event. They will have 10 minutes after the completion of their running event to return and check-in to the field event. After that time, the event will continue as scheduled. Athletes may check in early for a running event and declare that they will be at a field event and then report to the clerk when the running event is occurring on the track.
In the field events, there will be a coaches’ box at each site. Anyone in a coaches’ box MUST be a district approved coach with proper coaching credentials for that event (especially pole vault). Any non-approved coach will be ejected from the field for the duration of the meet. All pole-vaulters must have weight certification on file with the Pole Vault Judge before competition. Weight declaration sheets will be at the pole vault venue to be filled out by a coach before the event begins. Coaches will only be allowed in the roped off area and can talk to athletes at that spot.
Shot Put and Discus:
The Shot Put and Discus rings are concrete. Red Mountain High School will provide throwing implements to be used in the Discus and Shot Put competition. These implements will be kept on a rack and will be available to warm up with. Competitors may use a throwing implement of their own provided they make weigh-in requirements. The weigh-in station will be directly west of the annex weight room building just south of the shot put rings.
All marks will be measured this year. There will be no minimum mark. Athletes will be given three non-consecutive throws. The top 9 throwers will make the Finals.
Long Jump and Triple Jump:
Reminder: Per 2020 NFHS rules amendments there are no runbacks allowed during warm-ups. Please plan accordingly with your athletes.
The south runways for long jump and triple jump are of all-weather surface therefore will require soft-soled shoes or track shoes with 1/4" spike or less.
