Success in cross country and track and field is built during the off-season. While off-season training is not required to be a part of the Desert Vista AIA season, it is highly recommended for athletes who want to improve, stay healthy, and compete at their best.
We offer organized off-season Distance and Sprints/Speed training through a USATF-affiliated club during both the summer and winter off-seasons. The primary focus of this training will be on developing aerobic conditioning to prepare for both cross country and track seasons. Athletes may also have opportunities to compete in track and field meets during the off-season, depending on readiness and interest. See Flyers below. Sign ups coming soon.
In addition, we may offer field event training for interested athletes through the club, focusing on technical development for events like jumps and throws.
Separately, Desert Vista will offer summer strength and conditioning classes for all athletes. We encourage all team members to take advantage of these classes to build strength, flexibility, and injury resilience leading into the season. Information and Flyer Below.

Thunder Strength Academy - Summer Weight Training
Get Ready for the 2025 Thunder Strength Academy!
This summer, we’re cranking up the intensity with 6 weeks of high-level strength and conditioning designed to help you become stronger, faster, and more explosive!
This camp is open to all DV athletes across every sport. Our experienced staff will adapt training around your schedule and modify workouts to meet your individual needs — so you get the most out of every session.
Sessions:
• Incoming 9th Grade: 9:00 – 10:15 AM
• Boys (10th–12th): 10:00 – 11:15 AM
• Girls (10th–12th): 11:00 – 12:15 PM
Program runs Monday–Thursday:
• June 2 – June 27
• July 7 – July 17
Athletes can expect:
• 3 days/week of strength & speed development
• 1 day focused on flexibility, mobility, and recovery
• Proven, high-energy training led by passionate coaches!
